Still under construction as they say, but I wanted this out in some form as soon as possible. It may still need to be updated.
This page is intended to assist you in making choices about how you might wish to help the Children of Chiang Mai.
We already have a donor who sponsors and has sponsored a child from Year 1 to Year 13 at the
British International School.
Another friend takes care of the monthly water bill, etc.
Others choose to allow us to decide where their gift will be most productive
during any given month.

Officer's Training Course for one of four involved secondary school children - entire course of 3 sections at $85 per section - $255 per child* (See below)
Mobile telephone usage for one child of nine for one month. Required for security: $13/child/month
Finally, the big one, food!
It costs about $4 per person per day to properly feed the household. We shop at local markets and mostly cook at home to keep costs down and for the children to learn how to manage in their environment.
Conclusion:
These amounts are not fixed in stone as benefactor's situations change regularly, and rapidly increased costs of living continue to plague us.
As a point of interest, the costs work out to being very close to $3,500 per child per annum that remains to be sustainably raised. Sponsoring one child for one year would be a wonderful boon for us.
Of course no-one needs to give any of the amounts listed in full. A proportion of a need specified for a particular cause is absolutely possible.
I feel that your giving with a particular need in mind would help me to keep every friend right up to date in a more tailored fashion with developments in our family. I would welcome any comments or thoughts at chiangmaigold@earthlink.net

*Officer's training course saves the lads from two years of absolutely miserable military training as a conscript. They leave school with a commission, to be called up only if the country finds itself under great threat. As an officer, their resumés are off to a great start and their position gives them some standing in a country that is extraordinarily stratified. I have managed to do this for all my able-bodied wards so far.
