The door is always open. The house is safe. Coffee can be on in minutes and the kitchen table can be cleared in a moment - it is a place of peace and non-judgement. Anyone who needs to chat is welcome anytime. Never suffer in silence. We have food in the fridge, coffee and tea in the cupboard, wine and whiskey (on request), listening ears, shoulders to cry on and love & thoughts to share.
This is an old value that has been lost to technology. A text, face-time, or emoji is not the equivalent of making time for those we love or care about!
In 1996 our home was opened up to one young boy who had nowhere to go. That was the beginning of what was to become “Children of Chiang Mai”.
Unfortunately there are many children in Thailand who are facing dire straights. Their futures are bleak with little hope of escaping a life of poverty and despair. Some are living in abusive situations, others are homeless having lost their parents to AIDS.
We believe every child should have the opportunity to live without the fear of abuse, provided a loving home where they know where their next meal is coming from, and an education to help them reach their full potential.
Over the years we have opened our home to over 30 boys who have thrived and grown into happy, productive young adults.
We currently have 13 boys living in our home.
The Children of Chiang Mai has existed for thirty years to provide a warm, tolerant home for the children of the Hill Tribe Territories and throughout Thailand.
Children are educated to the highest standards available in Chiang Mai City, whether that be within the International or the Thai curricula systems.
Furthermore, children are educated through Universities or Technical Colleges should they wish to undertake the responsibilities involved.
The Children of Chiang Mai is non denominational.
We are a 501c3 tax exempt Foundation
Our home is run through team work. Every child helps with the chores to help maintain the home. Even the cooking is done by the kids. They are learning responsibility.
Funding for the home is also based on teamwork. Donations have helped keep our doors open to help these young boys find their way in life. We have partner organizations that also contribute to our cause.
Visitors from America pose with the children.
With your help these boys can have a bright future.
